The Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District just announced that the Sugar Sand Park Science Playground opening to the public will be…
UPDATE: March 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. The initial public opening scheduled for March 18 has been canceled due to colder temperatures, which have caused the curing time for the soft safety surface to be extended. We apologize for any inconvenience. We hope you will join us on March 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. to see the newly renovated, accessible playground!
The reopening will come after a week of circus and science-themed activities. These will be during the “Big Top, Big Universe” Spring Break event running March 17- 25. How excited are you?!
The NEW inclusive playground will feature new swings, slides, and an expanded climbing structure. It will allow for greater access to people of all ages and abilities. And, it will offer greater visibility for parents and children alike.
In order to preserve the history of the original playground, built in 1995 by both professionals and volunteers, the iconic “smiling face” still stands. They have also kept all of the names of volunteers on the pickets surrounding the structure. The updated interactive water feature will showcase various sea creatures. A new train station-themed toddler play area has also been been added. We can’t wait for the Sugar Sand Park Science Playground opening!
Sugar Sand Park Science Playground Opening March 25th
Built to American Society for Testing & Materials standards by Nujak Development, the playground will be stronger and safer. It will have a soft, impact-attenuating ground surface. This surface is also the key to the wayfinding feature. This allows parents and children to pinpoint their exact location within the playground through identifying markings.
I know so many Boca parents will be taking advantage of this playground year-round!
