Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is...Robin Finn,  Creativity Coach,  Advocate and Writer of the book Restless in L.A.!

 Restless in L.A.

Tell us a little bit about your background and how your journey started…

My author journey started when I began writing personal essays about parenting a child with ADHD and special challenges. To my surprise, when these essays appeared in The Washington Post, Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, and other outlets, my inbox was flooded with emails from parents having a similar experience. So I kept writing.

What inspired you to write your book, and how has being a mom shaped your writing?

My first novel, Amazon-bestseller RESTLESS IN L.A. felt like a natural evolution. Advocating for a child with special challenges, writing essays about that experience, and then writing a novel about a mom of three struggling with these same issues were all different paths of exploring a similar theme.

Raising a child with significant challenge creates a parenting experience unlike everyone else’s. It’s unlike anything you may have ever imagined. Because the book is fiction, I set this experience in the larger context of Alex’s 40th birthday. Then, I added the steamy complications of re-connecting on Facebook with her old love from college. Think of RESTLESS IN L.A. as: Trader Joe’s meet Fifty Shades with an ADHD child, a life coach, and an online flirtation with ‘the one that got away.’

Restless in L.A.

How did you get started with your writing?

For me, it’s true that we ‘write what we know.’ I laughed and got teary as the main character, mother-of-three Alexandra Hoffman, struggled. She struggled with her kids, her son with ADHD, her husband, the school, other parents, and herself. Certainly, Alex’s battles at school were inspired by situations I had faced in my own life.

One of the hardest parts of raising a child who is different is the JUDGMENT. I spent two years studying at a Los Angeles spirituality school learning to cultivate a “spiritual perspective” on my life. This ultimately meant learning to not take anything personally. After all, what’s more personal than your kids? This perspective comes through in the novel.

What should MBMom readers know about you?

As a mom-writer, I understand the difficulties of balancing work and momlife. Writing Restless in L.A. not only gave me an outlet for my bottled-up frustrations, hopes, upsets, and imagination. It also forced me to reclaim myself as a writer. In order to get the book done, I had to commit to mercilessly carving out time to write. Of course, this was in the middle of soccer practice, carpools, field trip chaperoning, and all the other tasks that come with being a mom of 3.

There is a popular misconception that being a good parent means devoting every waking moment to your children. I found that not to be true. It simply made me an exhausted parent. Being an effective mom turned out to be inextricably linked to taking care of myself first. It’s like the old adage, “put on your own oxygen mask first.”

Writers write. Writing fills my tank. Whether I am working on a novel or an essay, I am definitely a happier, calmer and more patient mom when I balance my time between my family and my work. This is regardless of how complicated and crazy that can sometimes be…

What new and exciting things are coming up for you as an author?

Restless in L.A. and I were just featured in The Los Angeles Times. We had an amazing book launch at the iconic Book Soup in West Hollywood, CA. Now, I am traveling around the country visiting friends in places like Orange County, Philadelphia, and New York, and doing book clubs. I grew up in South Florida and would love to visit book clubs in Boca Raton as well!

Restless in L.A.

What do you love about living and working in South Florida?

I had the best childhood! I grew up in Coral Springs. When “Restless in L.A.” launched, I started a Facebook page called “Restless in Coral Springs,” for all of my childhood friends. They’ve all been ordering the book, posting pictures of themselves holding it, and leaving fantastic reviews. I feel so lucky to have grown up with such supportive and amazing friends, Decades later, we are still there celebrating and supporting each other!

MOMpreneur Monday: The Lomnitzer Law Firm

MOMpreneur: n. defined as a female business owner who is actively balancing the role of mom and the role of entrepreneur.

Welcome to our latest installment of MOMpreneur Monday, highlighting Florida businesses and brands that were founded by female entrepreneurs and fellow Mommas.

Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton on Modern Boca Mom

Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is...Lorri Lomnitzer, founder of the Lomnitzer Law Firm in Boca Raton!

Lomnitzer Law

Tell us a little bit about your background and how you started Lomnitzer Law…

Before I started law school, I had worked for a record label and really enjoyed it! So when I decided to go to law school, I made it a point to study entertainment and intellectual property law. I also worked in the High-Tech Crimes Unit for the District Attorney in LA and learned a lot about trademarks and anti-counterfeiting while I was there.

After that, I worked for a midsize and a large firm before going out on my own. I started this firm before I had my son, so I have a long-running joke with clients that the firm is my “first baby!” And the truth is, I don’t work much less since he was born. If anything, he’s given me more drive and more of a sense of purpose.

“Like every mom, I want to be a good parent and provider… and I admit, I want my son to see how much I love my work, so hopefully he’ll decide to become a lawyer too!”

Lomnitzer Law

Throughout my career, I have gained experience in various areas of the law, including corporate law, business and civil litigation, employment law and insurance defense. During most of my career, a majority of my client base was large corporations.  However, I began to notice more and more that small businesses and entrepreneurs were unable to obtain the legal services that they needed at an affordable cost.

I found myself drawn to working with small business clients and decided to be the one to offer them quality legal services at a manageable price.

Now, I’m an intellectual property and entertainment law attorney and the founder of The Lomnitzer Law Firm, a boutique law firm in Boca Raton. We cater to businesses, start-ups, inventors, and individuals who are looking for high-quality legal services at a reasonable price.

How have you grown since since starting your law firm?

My client base has grown really organically. Word spread among my old record label contacts that I’d become a lawyer, and people I’d known from my music business days began to contact me.

They became my clients and working with them made me realize that there was an unfulfilled need in the marketplace for a boutique law firm with a focus on intellectual property and entertainment law. Many people don’t understand that every business owns some intellectual property and that it’s an asset to be protected.

I decided that I should be the one to solve the problem. To be able to help my clients as much as possible, we do both contracts (transactions) as well as litigation. We’ve also expanded to provide corporate and business counsel.

What is truly unique about the Lomnitzer Law Firm?

We are unique in that we are one of only a few firms in South Florida that focus on intellectual property and entertainment law. We do both transactional law and litigation. And we always consider how the decisions we make with our clients now will impact their businesses down the road.

Why should MBMom businesses become your clients?

We help our clients protect assets they may not realize are assets. And though some of our lawyers have big firm experience, our services come at small firm prices. We deliver specialized attention to every client, whether you’re an individual or a huge corporation. We’d love to help service Modern Boca MOMpreneurs and local families!

What new and exciting things are coming up for the Lomnitzer Law Firm?

We’re growing! We’re hiring some new attorneys and continuing to expand our practice areas. Also, I’m speaking at an Orlando Film Festival in February and helping plan the Florida Bar 8th Annual IP Symposium which is taking place in Fort Lauderdale in March 2017.

What do you love about living and working in South Florida?

Living in South Florida is like living in paradise! My son loves the parks and I love the weather. Not to mention that it’s a great location to do business. Our Boca Raton office allows us to easily work with clients from Miami to Palm Beach as well as overseas.

Welcome to our latest installment of MOMpreneur Monday, highlighting Florida businesses and brands that were founded by female entrepreneurs and fellow Mommas.

Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton on Modern Boca Mom

Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is...Jennifer Bishop, Owner of Jennifer Bishop Counseling in Boca Raton!

Jennifer Bishop Counseling Boca Raton

Tell us a little bit about your background and how you started Jennifer Bishop Counseling…

In 2001, I graduated with my undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida in Communication. After that, I obtained my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. My graduate internship focus was on children and family systems. In 2007,  I became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with the State of Florida.  And in 2010, I became a Qualified Supervisor, supervising Registered Interns toward obtaining their licensure while continuing my work and becoming a Certified Experiential Trainer.

In 2015, I decided to start Jennifer Bishop Counseling, Inc. where we specialize in working with children and families in Boca Raton.

Jennifer Bishop Counseling Boca Raton

Families are in a constant state of change or transition. This means when one part of a system changes, the entire system is changed. Staying grounded and present during these transitions can be challenging for any child, parent and family, no matter what their situation. When even one member of a family comes in for support, the entire family will benefit.

“Our team integrates a holistic approach for the family, focusing on just that, family relationships.”

Jennifer Bishop Counseling Boca Raton

What challenges have you faced since starting your counseling services?

There are always challenges in our line of work. We walk through the maze of life with others, but each and every one of us is different. We have different backgrounds, face different trials, and react to situations differently. Therefore, we all require individualized approaches to healing. As a Boca Raton mental health counselor, I’ve dedicated countless hours to gaining expertise in a wide variety of therapy techniques, so that I may have the ability to help children and adults find empowerment, no matter the issues they are tasked with overcoming.

What is truly unique about your counseling services?

What makes Jennifer Bishop Counseling unique is that my approach is not focused simply on reducing symptoms, but on supporting clients overcoming their self-limiting beliefs, increasing their self-esteem, increasing awareness and improving relationships.

We draw on the strengths of each individual, so that every client recognizes their importance and sets realistic expectations so they can thrive.

Why should our readers become your clients?

My specialty is working with children under 12 and with their parents. Parents often have a lot of influence and are more powerful than they think. Most emotional and behavioral issues can be resolved through parental intervention.

We provide an eclectic approach and use established methods and modalities, including;

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Emotive Therapy
  • Play Therapy
  • Parent-Child Interactive Techniques
  • Experiential and Expressive Therapies
    • Art
    • Music
    • Movement
    • Drama
    • Yoga/Meditation

“We believe that when even one member of a family comes in for support, the entire family will benefit.”

Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is...Melody Cobbe, founder of Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton!

Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton on Modern Boca Mom

Tell us a little bit about your background and starting Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton…

I’ve been a lawyer since 1999 and throughout my career, I have gained experience in various areas of the law, including corporate law, business and civil litigation, employment law and insurance defense.

During most of my career, a majority of my client base was large corporations.  However, I began to notice more and more that small businesses and entrepreneurs were unable to obtain the legal services that they wanted at an affordable cost.

I found myself drawn to working with small business clients and decided to be the one to offer them quality legal services at a manageable price.

What challenges have you faced since starting your law firm in Boca Raton?

Around that time, my daughter had started kindergarten and my son entered 3rd grade. With both children in school full-time, the demands of homework were increasing, not to mention shuffling the children to their various extracurricular activities. I was also not taking any time off. Like many mothers, I was struggling to find the balance between work and home and felt like there was no balance. I was either at work and not spending any time with my family or at home feeling like I was neglecting my clients.

Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton on Modern Boca Mom

“I felt as if there had to be some way “to have it all”.  I had worked extremely hard to establish my legal career, but also did not want to miss seeing my children grow up by choosing my profession over my family.

Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton on Modern Boca Mom

So, I decided to take a leap of faith and open my own practice with a focus on small business and entrepreneurs. By having my own practice, I would not say that I work any less than I did when I worked for someone else. But instead, I work differently. My law firm in Boca Raton allows me to have the flexibility to manage both my practice and my family needs.

Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton on Modern Boca Mom

What is truly unique about Cobbe Law?

Cobbe Law takes a concierge approach with its clients and offers a one-stop shop for small business and start-ups.  My background in the different areas of law, as well as my litigation experience, provides valuable insight for my corporate clients.

Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton on Modern Boca Mom

Why should MBMom businesses become your clients?

When you are a client of Cobbe Law Firm in Boca Raton, I personally handle your legal matters. And, if it is outside my area of practice, I work with you to locate someone to assist you. I also offer a variety of payment structures ranging from a flat fee to hourly rates and can also serve as a part time in-house counsel for your company.

What new and exciting things are coming up for Cobbe Law?

I’m very excited to for this year and expect to have more speaking engagements beginning with being a speaker at the FemCity Boca Raton Fem-Fab-Five Luncheon held on January 27th.

What do you love about living and working in South Florida?

I moved to South Florida from Brooklyn over 10 years ago! South Florida provides a wonderful lifestyle for me and my family.  We are able to be outside year-round-– what can be better than that?! We take full advantage of the South Florida weather and go to the beach often and love riding our bikes.

Welcome to our latest installment of MOMpreneur Monday, highlighting Florida businesses and brands that were founded by female entrepreneurs and fellow Mommas.

April Golightly on Modern Boca Mom

Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is...April Castoro Erhard, founder of April Golightly in Boca Raton!

April Golightly on Modern Boca Mom

Tell us a little bit about your background and what inspired you to start April Golightly

I practiced law for 5 years before leaving to work full-time on April Golightly. During my time working as an attorney, I craved a creative outlet where I could write about the things I was passionate about. Blogging was something that I started with pure passion and it was something fun to work on after being in court all day and spending late nights and weekends at the office. I never dreamed that it would become a full-time business with employees and huge brand contracts!

April Golightly on Modern Boca Mom

My last year practicing law was spent working part-time at home while I was pregnant with my daughter. I tried to quit my job, but my boss would not let me leave when I told him I was quitting to work on my blog. He kept me on part-time from home until my daughter was born. When my daughter was born, I became a full-time stay at home mom and blogger.

Luckily, my little daughter was a great napper! It gave me time to work on the blog while she took her 4 naps per day. My husband handled the evening feedings and bedtime, so I could work during that time too. It was a team effort and the blog would not be where it is today without my husband’s support.

April Golightly on Modern Boca Mom

What challenges have you faced since starting April Golightly?

April Golightly, as a business, started with a help of a friend and mentor who explained the business of blogging to me over lunch. I had known her for years while I was studying in Miami and found out she had quit her job to blog full-time. This blew my mind and I had to know more. I took her to lunch and she sent me home with a gameplan. That advice helped me make April Golightly into the thriving business it is today.

The one piece of advice that I wish I had taken right away was switching from a Fashion to Lifestyle blog. It took me several years to make this change. As much as I love fashion, it was challenging writing about only one topic.

April Golightly on Modern Boca Mom

What is truly unique about your blog and business?

I feel that April Golightly is a unique blog because it brings women everyday luxury that they crave. You can be an awesome mom to your kids, cook dinner and look fabulous at the same time. If I can do it, so can you. I want to give women the confidence to wear what they want, be a good mom, and live the luxurious life that we all dreamed we would. I feel like a lot of moms surrender their lives to their children (my mom was like that), letting life’s little luxuries go– beauty, fashion, travel and great food.

The lifestyle of April Golightly gives you permission to be a good mom and still enjoy the good things in life.

April Golightly on Modern Boca Mom

Why should MBMoms become your readers?

I adore Modern Boca Mom as a person and as a website and truly am a Modern Boca Mom! We live in Boca Raton and love it so much. Living in Boca helps make everyday luxury easy and we have so many great restaurants, hotels, spas, and the shopping is, of course, the best!

Also, the moms here are so sweet and welcoming that I want to get to know all of them! If more Modern Boca Moms became my readers, we would get to run into each other frequently around town. How cool would that be?

April Golightly on Modern Boca Mom

What new and exciting things are coming up for April Golightly?

This year, I’m working on producing more videos. I shot 5 videos over the holidays and will be rolling them out over the next few weeks. We are going to be focusing on creating easy-to-make recipes with detailed instructions, so you cannot mess it up!

Here is a tasty Buffalo Chicken Taco Recipe.  We are really working on easy recipes that can be made in one pot or pan, so you don’t have a ton of clean up. This means more time for fun things like spending time with family, makeup and fashion!

April Golightly on Modern Boca Mom

What do you love about living and working in South Florida?

South Florida is such a lovely place to live. It is fantastic being minutes from the best grocery stores and Town Center Mall. Dangerous, but fantastic for a shopper like me. 🙂 I have to mention the perfect weather and the expertly manicured landscaping. It makes me smile every day! The people here in Boca are so nice and they have embraced us. My daughter and I have a ton of friends and love spending time with family.

Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is...Jasmine Otero, owner and founder of Jasmin Boutique of Boca Raton!

Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton

Tell us a little bit about your background and what inspired you to start Jasmin Boutique Boca

I was born in Puerto Rico. raised in Orlando and have a passion for style, travel & design. Moving to South Florida to attend Florida Atlantic University cemented my decision to make Boca Raton my home. After spending a semester in Shanghai studying Business Law, I discovered my love for retail.

Upon returning to the states, I started a career in real estate and the only thing I could really focus on was what my clients were wearing. I attended a Women in Business Luncheon one evening and when it was my turn to speak, I realized I talked about fashion more than I did real estate.  It was one of those, “AH-HA!” moments and I knew that if I didn’t change my career, I would one day regret it.

Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton

Fashion was where I wanted to focus and I was determined to accomplish my goal. After expressing my dreams with my fiancé, Brad, he and I decided to put a plan together. With his extensive background in textiles and my keen eye and appreciation for the confidence fashion can give a woman, we combined our talents to create the ultimate luxurious shopping experience for today’s modern woman. We envisioned taking her from work to date nights to family adventures.

While I love my career, my family always comes first. I was a single mother to my now 12 year-old daughter for many years before meeting my fiancé. He has two daughters and together we have a 2 year-old son. As a mother to four children, I feel like I am also a role model. I hope that seeing my hard work inspires them to also work hard, follow their hearts and always do the right thing.

Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton

What challenges have you faced since opening Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton?

As with any business, financing, making the right decisions and ultimately execution were all challenges.

img_0012

When you visit Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton, you will see the culmination of these challenges come to life with collections that reflect a timeless, ageless, elegance.

My most notable quote is my personal motto, “A Woman Dressed with Confidence Impacts the World,” which is the driving force on all of my buying trips. I am thinking of the woman at work, the mother at her child’s school activity or at a social event.

Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton

What is truly unique about your business?

The concierge concept in business is not new, however it is certainly less common today. We believe in bringing back this approach to provide our customers with an exceptional experience. Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton is a full service vendor happy to accommodate clients’ needs if those needs are special order requests, extended hours, private or personalized shopping. We also host events and give style tutorials via social media.

Our staff includes skilled stylists who will make certain our clients will look their very best when they shop Jasmin Boutique.

Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton

Why should MBMom readers become your customers?

All shoppers are unique. We see people who come into the shops as clients, not only customers, and give them personalized attention. Our goal is to connect with our clients and create long term relationships. We know their name, story, and style so we can help them build a wardrobe that complements their lifestyle.

Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton

What new and exciting things are coming up for Jasmin Boutique Boca?

Currently, we feature brands such as Alice & Olivia, DVF, Elie Tahari, J Brand Jeans, Joie, Schoen by Yu, Ted Baker, Wolford, and Yumi Kim just to name a few. For the first year, my focus has been on buying from the east coast. This coming year, I look forward to expanding to the west coast.

Each season, we bring in new lines of high quality, competitively priced mid to high-end luxury lines to suit everyone’s budget and lifestyle.

Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton

I have also recently started managing a men’s clothing store, Swatches and Rags, located in Delray Beach. We plan to introduce men’s fashion to my Boca location later this year.

Jasmin Boutique Boca Raton

What do you love about living and working in South Florida?

Living in South Florida has given me the opportunity to interact with women from so many walks of life. As an active member of the Junior League, I have the privilege of volunteering and helping others while being surrounded by smart, supportive and kind women. Plus the 80 degree weather!

Salt Academy on Modern Boca Mom

Tell us a little bit about your background and what inspired you to start your  school, SALT Academy

I’m a very passionate educator and have had experience in both private and public school settings. I earned a Masters in Educational Leadership, as well as a Teacher Certification and Principal Certification in the State of Florida.  After gaining this experience, I dedicated myself to taking the best of both settings into SALT.

In today’s schools, both Federal and State regulations have made it very stressful on administrators, teachers, students and parents. Between the unnecessary testing and the ‘one-size-fits-all’ design, the only way out is to homeschool. Homeschooling has many benefits, but the structure and social integration that school offers is also important for children of all ages. I sat down with several community leaders, parents, and educators, and we all agreed that something needed to change.

I’m so fortunate to be a mom to two wonderful kids, Sofia and Joey. I’m also extremely lucky to have a remarkable husband who I think, is an undercover superhero. As a teacher, but most importantly a mom who wanted to be heard, I decided to step out and create an environment I felt suited children best in today’s world.

SALT Academy Boca Raton is an environment where children are encouraged to ask questions, get creative, and learn comfortably. For homeschoolers, we are an extension of their home and for teachers, we are the reason they started teaching.  For parents, we are the link between school and homeschooling.

What were some of your challenges when opening SALT Academy Boca Raton?

Opening a school has many challenges! However, our community was in desperate need of a school that could bring back the love of learning. My devoted and caring father had always encouraged me to open a school, and after his painful passing, I gained the strength to make our dream a reality. My mom, who has also been in education for over 20 years, joined me in creating this dream and our school is finally open!

What is truly unique about your school?

Salt Academy offers individualized learning to students by using a blended learning approach. Students attend school in a physical building and work through an academic schedule that varies based on a student’s specific learning needs.

They are offered computer-based learning and an instructor adds physical supports and connections where valuable through activities such as small-group instruction, group projects and individual tutoring.

As a result, the potential for innovation is higher because students progress as they demonstrate mastery in different subjects. This level of differentiated planning lends itself to instructional technology which plays a key learning role for our students. Also, the instructor has better data and opportunities to customize learning for each student during small group work.

SALT Academy Boca Raton is very unique. A few of the benefits offered are the weekly progress reports, small student-teacher ratio, blended learning approach, weekly field trips, certified teachers with advanced degrees, no standardized testing, and daily yoga. It sounds amazing because it really is. We hope all kids can enjoy and benefit from the experience at our academy!

What is scheduling like at SALT Academy?

SALT offers two learning sessions per day, Monday through Thursday. More personalized one-on-one sessions are offered as requested. On Fridays, we learn outside the classroom through optional school field trips. You can choose to attend Session A from 8:30am-12pm or Session B from 12:30pm to 4pm. Students may also add an hour to the program by joining Spanish and SALT TV from 12pm to 1:30pm.

What new and exciting things are coming up at SALT?

It is my hope to be able to grow and offer our services tuition-free someday, without the mandated guidelines imposed on schools today. The community has been very receptive of our program and has shown great interest. We are already planning the opening of future locations and the expansion of our current one. This will allow us to educate more students throughout the area. We feel we are the FUTURE of Education.

Lizy Bloom Designs

Tell us a little bit about your background and what inspired you to start your  business, Lizy Bloom Designs…

I was born in Los Gatos, CA.  My family moved from California to Chicago, and then to Fort Wayne, Indiana by the time I was five years old. My dad worked for the newspaper his whole career and my mom was a caterer. They were always supportive of anything my sister and I wanted to do from a young age and I was always involved in theatre and art.

Shortly after graduation from Indiana University, I moved to Chicago. During my first year there, I explored the city, waited tables, heard great music and just enjoyed being young, living in a big city and figuring out what I wanted to do with my life. In 2002, I decided I would become an art teacher and started attending the Master’s program at Columbia College Chicago. I started teaching in one of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago, but I loved it!

Then came marriage and kids…

In 2005, I met my husband and moved to the suburbs to start teaching in another underprivileged school in Waukegan, IL. Then in 2008, my daughter, Harper Mae, was born. I went on a 3 month maternity leave from my job. 3 months turned into 6 months, which turned into the school year and when the fall of 2009 rolled around I just couldn’t convince myself to go back.  As a mom, I wanted to be home with Harper as much as possible, but I also wanted to work.

Around then, my step-son was about to become a Bar Mitzvah. I created a montage video of pictures for his party. People liked what I had done and I slowly started to make a name for myself.

I got so busy that I needed a website and instead of hiring someone to build it for me, I decided to tackle it myself. Why not use my creative and my analytical sides at the same time? A few clients turned into many  and that’s how Lizy Bloom Designs was born!

What happened next?

When it came to my website, I know it had to represent me, my art, my creativity, and my life. I decided I would teach myself using a content management system. (You can see my first site here: http://lizybloom.com/oldschool). Not long after, people started calling to request their own small websites. Then people called me for larger websites and the montage business eventually gave way to my small web development firm: Lizy Bloom Designs.

What’s unique about your design company?

I am completely self taught and have little overhead. This means two things:

  • First: If a client asks me to do something I have never done before, I am completely comfortable telling them it will get done and completing the task.
  • Second: Due to my minimal overhead, I am able to offer my services at a fraction of the cost compared to big firms, but with the same results. I usually try to market to small businesses and startups. With my creativity and drive, I can help my clients decide what they would like on their website and guide them when they don’t know what direction to take.
Why should MBM readers become your clients?

When it comes to website design, my number one love is WordPress. You can have a powerful and extraordinarily flexible theme with a big advantage down the road to make updates to your site yourself. This also allows me to continue the project in the future to save money and time. With over 8 years of experience, I’ve managed all facets of development from initial design to deployment.

I can help you pick a URL, register it and get your site hosted. I’m organized, motivated, creative, resourceful, driven and I’m not happy until my clients are happy. I’m excited to be branching out to new ventures, while spreading the word about my business opportunities for new and existing clients!

What do you love about living and working in South Florida?Print

I have only lived in South Florida for a little under a year, but I am learning to love it! We don’t miss the Chicago winters! Brr! The area seems to be growing with more new businesses greater than anywhere else I have lived. I look forward to creating more relationships for Lizy Bloom Designs!

Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is...Pam Goodchild, founder of the Simply Beautiful Skincare Studio in South Florida!

Simply Beautiful Skincare Studio Coral Springs on Modern Boca Mom

Tell us a little bit about your background and what inspired you to start your  business…

I’m a licensed esthetician that created Simply Beautiful Skincare Studio Coral Springs. It has been open for almost a year and a half now! I honestly opened my own skincare studio so I could be in control of the products and protocols I use.

There are so many products and treatments out there and that tends to be confusing for most women. We’re all so busy doing everything for everyone! My motto is: If you’re going to make healthy skincare treatments a part of your routine, it has to be easy to tuck it into your existing daily life. The products also have to be effective.

Simply Beautiful Skincare Studio Coral Springs

How did Simply Beautiful Skincare Studio Coral Springs start?

I created Simply Beautiful based on what I would personally want to find in a skincare studio. This included a meticulously clean studio in a location close to where we eat, live and shop. I wanted an esthetician with extensive training and knowledge of ingredients who thrives on learning not just what’s new but what really works.

What’s new at Simply Beautiful?

This fall, I introduced Peel sets and they’ve become really popular! My clients have been really pleased with the results that a series of 4-6 peels does for their skin. I customize them based on their strength and skin issues and follow up almost every peel with a potent dose of peptides and other collagen building ingredients. This really helps to kickstart the “post-peel progress.”

What do you love about living and working in South Florida?Print

South Florida has been so good to us!  In just a couple of years, we’ve built an amazing Florida family. My husband and I have spent countless volunteer hours with our kids’ marching band each season—making memories, supporting the kids and building our band family.  Being able to balance our passions has been a blessing.
