Jaimie Michaels, Editor at Disney travel experts MagicGuides, shared some amazing tips with us to help Florida families maximize their time and budget.
  1. Book Early for the Best Deals

It’s never too early to start planning your magical Disney getaway! Ideally, you’ll want to start saving and prepping at least a year in advance and book your February Disney trip about six months ahead of time. Why? Because Disney rolls out their best ticket and hotel deals 3-6 months in advance. If you wait too long, you might miss out on savings and prime reservation slots!

Although there are often some amazing Florida resident deals to take advantage of…

  1. Visit During Off-Peak Times

Timing is everything when it comes to Disney. The best times to go? Mid-January to mid-March and mid-September to mid-November (excluding Halloween). These times have historically lower crowds and temperatures, meaning shorter lines and better prices on hotels…and you’re much less sweaty.

Want an even better hack? Visit between Tuesday and Thursday, since weekends tend to be the busiest!

👉 Avoid peak times like:

  • New Year’s
  • Spring Break
  • Fourth of July
  • Halloween week
  • Christmas season

  1. Hit the Most Popular Rides First Thing in the Morning or Late at Night

Lines at Disney can get LONG—some rides have hour-long waits during peak times! The secret? “Rope dropping” (arriving before the park officially opens) to be one of the first in line for popular attractions. If you’re not an early bird, plan to ride later at night, when families with small kids have left for the day.

💡 MBMom Tip: Hollywood Studios and Epcot stay open until 9 PM. By 7 PM, lines drop, so you can hopefully sneak in a few must-do rides before closing!

  1. Use Lightning Lane Passes to Skip the Lines

Let’s be real—time is money at Disney. Lightning Lane passes let you skip the standby line for select attractions, and you can book them up to 7 days in advance if you’re staying at a Disney Resort.

🎟 Lightning Lane Multi Pass: Pre-select up to three rides per day and book more once you’re in the park. 🎟 Single Pass: Perfect for must-do rides like Guardians of the Galaxy, Flight of Passage, or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (you can get up to two per day).

  1. Make Dining Reservations ASAP

If you’ve got your heart set on dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table or experiencing the amazing space-themed meal at Space 220, you’ll want to book reservations as early as possible. Disney allows bookings up to 60 days in advance, and trust me—these spots fill up FAST!

Must-visit restaurants:

  • Be Our Guest (Magic Kingdom)
  • ‘Ohana (Polynesian Village Resort)
  • Space 220 (Epcot)
  • Cinderella’s Royal Table (Magic Kingdom)

This app is a total lifesaver for busy parents! It gives you real-time ride wait times, mobile food ordering, and even character locations. You can also manage your reservations, make Genie+ selections, and scan your tickets right from your phone.

💡 MBMom Tip: Use the app for mobile food ordering to skip long food lines. Just place your order ahead of time, check in when you arrive, and grab your meal when it’s ready!
