One of my most favorite parts of the holiday season is getting photo cards in the mail from my family and friends! Heck- I even love ’em from business associates! Last year, we ordered bold and artsy holiday postcards from minted. This year, while I still plan to order postcards, I wasn’t quite sure how we wanted to express our overall feelings about 2020. You may be in the same boat. This year stunk.
Since my family and I spent most of 2020 in pajamas and athleisure outfits, I brainstormed fun ways to visually turn the worst year ever right on its head. So, I convinced my family to go GLAM! And the best reason to dress up in town? The theater. I reached out to my friends at The Wick and they were so gracious to accommodate our annual family shoot with Naomi Phelps Photography.

I wanted to go “sparkly” in 2020 with our wardrobe because what other excuse do we have to really dress up right now?
MBMom Photo Tip: I highly recommend incorporating chairs, stools or a bench into any photo shoot to create some height variations– especially if you have a group like ours. Or, you can just sit on the bar like me and my sister! 😉

How much do I love my family (and photographer) for going along with my crazy holiday photo shoot ideas every year? The answer is: A LOT. 🙂
On a sad note, especially for me/Modern Boca Mom, my beloved photographer of 4 years, Naomi Phelps of Naomi Phelps Photography, is leaving Boca Raton for the great state of Texas. I am REALLY hoping she visits South Florida to shoot weddings OFTEN, so I can continue to convince her to take photos of me and my kiddos. But, I’m trying to come to terms with the fact that this holiday photoshoot at The Wick may be our last together. We love you Naomi!!! I’m not crying, you’re crying!!!

These shots were taken in The Wick’s restaurant, Tavern on The Wick, inspired by the famous Tavern On the Green in New York City.
We were so excited to shoot in The Wick Theatre’s famed Costume Museum! There were so many beautifully styled vignettes.
And what would 2020 be without a shot in fancy sequin face masks? Happy Holidays!
