Besides a lot more quality time with my family and the slower pace of life, I would have to say the best thing to come out of this global pandemic has been easy (and affordable!) takeout family meals in Boca Raton. We typically order them once a week, especially if my mom joins us for dinner. They have been a lifesaver if we don’t feel like grocery shopping, cooking or cleaning the kitchen…which is often these days. Ugh.
I’m sad to say that the #1 meal on my list is no longer available (J. Alexander’s–I’m looking at you and your delicious $25 steak taco meal!), but I’ve ordered and eaten all of the below and thought I’d share my local family meal findings with you all!
The Best (and Most Affordable) Takeout Family Meals in Boca Raton
BOLAY (feeds 4-6 people- $34.99)
If you’re looking for a healthy, savory meal that will feed a family of 4, BOLAY is our top recommendation. For $34.99, you get a big metal “lasagna” tin filled with 1 base, 2 veggies and a protein. They also include 4 of their AHMAYYYYZING chocolate chip cookies. There’s usually a fair amount of leftovers for lunch the next day too.
Fresh Kitchen (feeds 4 people- $38.00)
Similar to BOLAY, this family meal will also feed a family of 4. However, their packaging separates out each ingredient for your bowl in case you have picky eaters (or vegetarians/food allergies/etc.) in the house. We did not have any leftovers with this meal.
Bonefish Grill (feeds up to 5 people- $30.00-$40.00)
If your craving for Bang Bang Shrimp is becoming too much to handle, order the tacos in one of Bonefish Grill’s Family Bundles! Ranging in price from $29.90-$39.90, these meals feed up to 5 people and also include a side of your choice, a salad and cookies.
P.F. Chang’s (feeds 2, but really 4, people- $32.00)
Even though this meal says it’s for 2 people, you can definitely feed a family of 4 easily. SO. MUCH. FOOD. Build your perfect meal for two from a selection of their classic dishes. Choose: 1 Lettuce Wrap, 1 Soup, 1 Noodle or Rice and 1 Main Entrée. Not to mention all the fortune cookies they throw in…
Jimmy C’s Italian Deli & Market (feeds 3-4 people- $24.99)
When I first published the link to this blog post on Facebook, I got a TON of comments about Jimmy C’s Italian Deli & Market’s family meal options. 3 Italian dishes big enough to feed a family of 4 for only $24.99? I had to order it.
A true local, family business located in east Boca, they reached out and offered to gift us our meal. IT WAS AMAZING. Run, don’t walk to order this family trio. The only caveat is that you need to pick it up prior to 5:00 p.m.–their current COVID-19 closing time.
Pollo Tropical Special Grande Family Meal (feeds 4 people- $19.99)
Having just ordered DELICIOUS steak and chicken grilling kits for the holiday weekend, I’m now salivating over Pollo Tropical’s Family Meal offerings. There are a few different packages available, but the Special Grande Family Meal is a gem!
For only $20, you’ll receive a Whole Grilled Chicken, Mojo Roast Pork, White Rice, Black Beans, Sweet Plantains & 4 Rolls. Definitely the biggest bang for your buck on this list–available via carry out or drive-thru. Enjoy!
Bonjour Vietnam (Dishes ranging from $10-$12 per item)
Well hello/Bonjour Vietnam! I was hosted at this Downtown Boca Raton restaurant for the first time recently and never knew caramelized pork could taste so dang good. You must order the Caramelized Pork Banh Mi! Other favorites included the pork Vermicelli Bowl and Summer Rolls with shrimp.
This particular place doesn’t offer a standard family meal package, but the price on each item is too good to pass up. Carry out or delivery is available.
SPLURGE! Benihana (feeds 2-6 people- $35.00-$129.00)
Sadly, it doesn’t look like the hibachi dining “experience” is coming back anytime soon. So if you’re looking to fill that void in your life, splurge on one of Benihana’s Family Meals. You can start small with chicken and shrimp for 2 or go all out with a steak and shrimp feast for 6!
I’ll add more to this list as I come across them. In the meantime, bon appetit!
