Welcome to our latest installment of MOMpreneur Monday, highlighting businesses and brands that were founded by female entrepreneurs and fellow mommas!
Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is Jamie Raitan, founder and CEO of Pearth Blankets and artisanal goods!
Hi Jamie! Why don’t you tell us about your background and how your business got started?
Growing up in the fast-paced life of South Florida, I was always busy doing something. Between parenting and working in a highly demanding industry, the stress was always on. There was never a moment to just stop and breathe. I had been a self-advocate of inner peace since I was a young girl. And, it felt like I was experiencing anything but that while the stress and demand of our lives consumed me. Trying to be 100% at home and 100% at work was impossible.
I felt like everything I did was just ‘not enough’. As busy and successful as I was in my career, I was missing the best years of my life because I didn’t know how to slow down. I couldn’t say no and I didn’t want to. I was addicted, just like so many other Americans.
My husband and I decided to go on a trip to Ecuador to disconnect and slow down for a few days. It was the first time in our lives where we were fully embraced in a culture of peace and simplicity. The natives were engaged in the present. They were generous with their time; peaceful and content.
This was something we longed for. Little did we know, this trip would be the inspiration that would lead us to the next phase in our life; a bold move to Ecuador. Plus, the creation of a fair-trade company and movement called “Pearth”.
What is unique about Pearth in Ecuador?
“Pearth” (Peace on Earth) is the evolution that America needs. Through careful collaboration with the indigenous artisans in Ecuador, we have designed a cozy collection of luxurious products. They are handmade with love from a rare breed of alpaca called Suri. Our Pearth goods are promoted as a symbol as well as an everyday reminder to slow down and enjoy the simple things and moments in life that surround us – the most important things. We are very passionate about this movement.
We are so passionate that we moved our entire family to Ecuador months ago to experience this culture and to be able to share the products, the symbols of peace, with the world. The Pearth movement is not partisan; it’s a humanitarian evolution. It is a self-awareness realization of how we can co-exist, prioritize and live for today.
Why should Modern Boca Mom readers become your customers?
Pearth has impacted countless lives since it began one year ago. Not only are these products a symbol of peace, but they are a true statement piece in any space in your life. The cozy alpaca items are a symbol of this “Peace on Earth”.
Choose from many different designs in our 3 Collections – Coastal, Mountain and Dream. Pearth Blankets make beautiful gifts for everyone! Weddings, holidays, birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries… Who wouldn’t love a beautiful and cozy blanket?
Alpaca fiber also has so many benefits. It’s naturally hypoallergenic, water-resistant and perfect for any climate since alpaca is warm yet breathable. Alpaca is “The New Cashmere”! Boho and chic, Pearth Blankets will be the talk of any party! We even include an artisan-made bracelet with every purchase to wear as your daily reminder to find Peace on Earth.
What exciting things are coming up for Pearth?

What did you love about living and working in South Florida?
I absolutely love South Florida and we plan to come back soon! We moved to Ecuador because we wanted an adventure and a change of pace. This experience will allow us to grow in many ways. Living in Ecuador, as well as working closely with the artisans and the cute alpacas, will provide us the opportunity to develop and grow the Pearth movement!
