Be still my heart. No one was more excited than me (and #dailybocaavery…and maybe my mom) to find out that Boca Raton’s own Wick Theatre(7901 N Federal Highway) is putting on one of my all time favorite Walt Disney Broadway productions this summer: Beauty and the Beast at The Wick!
Not to mention some FABULOUS companion events for the whole family. Can you say tea time with Mrs. Potts?
The tale as old as time, Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, comes to The Wick Theatre this summer. The smash hit Broadway musical is based on the Academy Award-winning animated film and features music by Alan Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice and Howard Ashman.
The cast of Beauty and The Beast includes Loren Christopher as the Beast, Mallory Newbrough as Belle, Courter Simmons as Lefou, Jacob Thompson as Gaston and Jonathan Van Dyke as Lumiere. Dom Ruggiero is directing and the musical director is Eric Alsford.
To add to the enchantment of this summer production, Marilynn Wick has created special pre-performance events including Story Time with Belle, Tea Time with Mrs. Potts and Lumiere’s CandlelightDinner.
Here’s the scoop on Beauty and the Beast at The Wick:
Show Dates:June 8-July 9
Opening Night: June 10, 7:00PM (note 7:00pm NOT 7:30)
Special Events during Beauty and the Beast at The Wick include:
Story Time with Belle| 12-2:00PM| Wednesdays & Sundays | June 14-July 9| $40 pp
Sit with Belle in her library as she shares her favorite story. Enjoy a fanciful light lunch, participate in sing-a-longs, create arts and crafts and take home a “goodie” bag and a specially designed photo memory.
Tea Time with Mrs. Potts |12:00-2:00PM| Saturdays| June 14-July 9| $40pp
Enjoy a fantasy tea party hosted by the magical Mrs. Potts replete with tasty treats, sing-a-longs, arts and crafts projects, theatre etiquette, photo opportunity and take home “goodie” bag.
Lumiere and his enchanting staff invite you to a magical candlelight dinner featuring a delectable “family-style” French-inspired carte du jour for adult and child alike. Live music by the magical staff, along with delectable themed desserts and drinks, along with special photo opportunities.

Spring musicals weren’t really “a thing” when I was in high school. Boca High didn’t have the auditorium facilities it does now, so it was pretty much cheerleading and football and basketball games for me! Now working with (and at)Grandview Preparatory School, it has given me a second chance to be a part of a springtime musical…as a parent spectator of course. 😉 This year, Grandview is putting on Shrek the Musical in Delray Beach at the Crest Theatre May 5-6 (2017)…and it’s a must-see!
#dailybocaavery is beside herself with excitement waiting to see Shrek the Musical in Delray Beach. She’s watched the show on Netflix, but can’t wait to take in the show in person. Me either!
SUMMARY:Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek The Musical JR. It is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairy tale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.
Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairy tale misfits. They have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task. If he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad. But, a fairy tale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
DATES/TIMES: Showtime is at 7:00 p.m. on May 5th and 6th at the Crest Theatre in Delray Beach.
COST: Tickets are $20 each. Children under 3 sitting in a lap do not need a ticket. Tickets can be purchased at Grandview’s front office (336 Spanish River Blvd. NW in Boca Raton) or by calling 561-416-9737.

As a result, I’ve decided to put together a list of all of the incredible free Boca Raton yoga classes that Boca & Delray Beach have to offer!
Yoga has long been known to provide endless benefits for both the mind and body. I always feel best when I include it in my daily life. This can get pretty pricey, so I try to take advantage of the free Boca Raton yoga classes to fill in some of the gaps and keep me on the mat!
The Fair Trade Boutique:
This awesome gem of a boutique not only provides the latest and greatest in sustainable apparel and accessories, they also provide two (you heard me) FREE Yoga classes each week.
Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm you can participate in an awesome Restorative Yoga session. Saturday mornings at 10:30am you can catch their FREE Vinyasa class.
Bonus – Saturday afternoon they host “Sunshine Yoga” a toddler yoga class ($12 charge).
Sunset Yoga on the Beach:
Atlantic Dunes Beach is one of our favorite beaches in Delray. Every Wednesday at 5:30pm, Jessica Om treats local residents to a free yoga class at sunset. A great way to start your week roundup and settle in for a relaxing weekend.
Every Saturday morning at 9am, the ever popular Leslie Glickman teaches a yoga class for all levels to a packed house. This is THE place to be for early morning yoga on Saturdays. Leslie is the very life of Yoga Journey, the studio located on the 5th floor of the Wyndham Boca Raton.
