Looking for cheap summer activities in South Florida for families that will keep your kids entertained without blowing your entire 2026 summer budget? Same. Between camp costs, snack runs, travel and trying to keep everyone off screens 24/7, I’m always searching for affordable family outings that still feel exciting.
The good news? South Florida families have a LOT of fun options this summer, from inflatable water parks and splash zones to free Kids Club events, zoo promotions, and interactive museum exhibits.
And if you’re planning multiple adventures this season, don’t forget to check out my post on the 2026 South Florida Adventure Pass, which can save you serious money on attractions all summer long.

Here are some of the best free and cheap summer activities in South Florida for families in 2026:
Aqua Rush at Jungle Island
One of the newest family attractions launching this summer is Aqua Rush at Jungle Island in Miami, and it looks like SUCH a fun way to cool off during those long South Florida summer days.

The seasonal experience includes:
- Oversized inflatable water slides
- Splash zones
- Climbing areas
- Side-by-side racing lanes
- Slides reaching approximately 23 feet high
What I love most is that Aqua Rush is included with regular admission, so families can enjoy the water attractions while still exploring the rest of Jungle Island, including:
- Treewalk Village
- The new indoor Space Jump playground
- Guardians of the Jungle live animal show
Aqua Rush is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission starts at:
- $19.95 for children ages 3–9
- $29.95 for adults ages 10+

If your kids love splash pads, add Splash ‘N Play at Pinecrest Gardens to your summer bucket list!
This whimsical water playground features interactive fountains shaped like dragons, flowers, mushrooms, and fire hydrants, all surrounded by lush botanical gardens. It’s more playful, relaxing, and much more affordable than a full-blown water park day and definitely one of my top picks for cheap summer activities in South Florida for families.

Even better, admission also includes access to:
- Nature trails
- Playgrounds
- A mini-zoo
- The beautiful gardens themselves
Splash ‘N Play hours:
Daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (weather permitting)
General admission pricing:
- $8 for ages 2–64
- $5 for seniors
- Free for children under 2

Running from June 11 through July 19, the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Experience lets families:

Kids Free Summer at Palm Beach Zoo
One of my favorite annual summer deals is back at Palm Beach Zoo.

During their Kids Free Summer promotion:
- For every full-priced adult admission purchased, up to four children ages 3–12 receive FREE admission
- Kids 2 and under are always FREE!
The promotion runs throughout June and July and is SUCH a good way to enjoy a full family outing for less. It’s a great time to visit. Families can cool off under shaded pathways, feed birds in the Lorikeet Loft and take a spin on the carousel. They also have some exciting new additions, including adorable baby capybaras and their new baby koala!
MBMom Tip: Bring towels and a change of clothes so the kids can cool off at the Fountain Plaza Splash Pad.
