Parents, are you looking for a pediatric dental expert in Boca Raton? Allow us to introduce you to Dr. Drew Popper!
But first, a short story of how we got to know about him:
My husband once had an unpleasant experience at our then 3-year-old daughter’s dental appointment. Although it was just a standard cleaning session, she got nervous and freaked out. Guess what suggestion the dentist had for my husband?
She said, ‘Maybe mommy should bring her in next time.’
My husband felt so insulted – and I don’t blame him for that! I’m sure he was trying his best to calm her down. Cut him some slack, Ms. Dentist! Geez!
Anyways, this awkward experience made us look for a new pediatric dental expert for our little girl. And after a couple of days, we learned about Dr. Drew Popper!
Mommies (and Daddies), you must know the feeling when you connect with an expert and it instantly dawns upon you that your child will be in safe, great hands. Well, it was exactly the same with Dr. Popper! Ever since, he is our go-to pediatric dentist at Boca Raton’s Junior Smiles.
Dr. Drew Popper at Junior Smiles
A former camp counselor, Dr. Popper realized at a very young age that his passion lies in working with children. With a focus on preventative dentistry, he does everything he can do to teach children and their parents about proper oral hygiene and preventing cavities.
Trust us when we say that it helps a lot…especially if you have a kid who tends to freak out, like ours!
Now, let’s get to know more about the kids’ favorite pediatric dental expert…
Tell us a bit about yourself and your background…
I’m originally from Madison, CT and went to college at Boston University where I attended dental school and earned my master’s degree in Oral Health Science. I’m proud to say that I was #1 in my class in the first year and graduated in the top 5 out of over 100 students in the class.
I’ve always been passionate about working with children. I was a lifeguard/swimming instructor and counselor at a sleep-away camp from the age of 15-18. I attended a two-year residency program at NYU Lutheran Medical Center based out of Brooklyn where I earned my pediatric specialty certificate. I’m also trained in general anesthesia cases from the Tampa General Hospital.
What made you open a pediatric dental office in Boca Raton?
My grandmother lived in Boca for as long as I can remember and I’ve been visiting her since I was a kid. My parents decided to move here full time and fast forward to today, Boca feels like home to me! It’s a wonderful community with amazing families. I’m excited to be able to treat them and offer a genuine and wonderful dental experience.
What makes you and your office different?
In addition to my focus on preventative dentistry, I try to create a fun, comfortable environment for my young patients. I want them to have a positive experience so that they’ll actually look forward to their next appointment.
Believe it or not, I allow parents in my treatment rooms and I also have a wealth of experience with special needs patients.
Junior Smiles allots an ample amount of time for each appointment because I want to make sure that I can personally sit down with each family and discuss everything with them. Apart from this, we accept most insurance plans too and even offer a free cleaning to our first-time patients*!
