Tell us about your background…

I’m Dr. Zulianna Ibrahim, a board-certified Family Medicine physician and founder of ARÉVIDA, a virtual functional medicine and hormone health practice dedicated to helping women throughout Florida and California feel heard, understood, and empowered in their health journeys.

My passion for medicine began with a love of science, but it was also rooted in something much more personal. Even as a child, I recognized my ability to be a source of strength for others during their most vulnerable moments. I wanted to be someone who could offer reassurance during uncertainty, help people find answers, and advocate for them when they didn’t know where to turn.

That desire ultimately led me to Family Medicine. I was drawn to the opportunity to care for people throughout their lives, build meaningful relationships, and understand how their families, experiences, lifestyles, and personal challenges influence their overall health.

I earned my medical degree from George Washington University and completed my Family Medicine residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix. As my passion for a more comprehensive approach to healthcare grew, I pursued additional training in Integrative Medicine through the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine, and Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy through WorldLink Medical Academy.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of caring for thousands of patients, including countless women navigating the demands of motherhood, careers, relationships, and the physical and hormonal changes that come with aging.

Through these experiences, I’ve learned something incredibly important: “Women don’t necessarily need another person telling them what to do. They need someone who truly listens, takes their concerns seriously, and helps them connect the dots when it comes to their health.”

Too often, women feel that their symptoms are overlooked or simply accepted as a normal part of aging. I believe they deserve the time, attention, and personalized care needed to better understand what’s happening in their bodies. That belief inspired me to create ARÉVIDA. My goal is to offer a more thoughtful, individualized approach to women’s health, one that looks beyond isolated symptoms to consider the bigger picture, including hormones, lifestyle, personal health history, and overall well-being.

I want every woman I work with to feel comfortable asking questions, confident in her healthcare decisions, and supported as we work together toward her health goals. Above all, I believe great healthcare starts with listening, builds on trust, and empowers women to take charge of their well-being. That’s the physician I’ve always wanted to be, and it’s the philosophy I bring to every patient I care for at ARÉVIDA.

How did ARÉVIDA get started?

I loved being a family physician, but over time, I became increasingly frustrated by how little time I had to practice the kind of medicine I truly believed in. I watched women spend months, sometimes years, searching for answers about why they felt exhausted, were gaining weight, struggling with sleep, experiencing hormonal changes, or simply not feeling like themselves. They would visit multiple specialists seeking out HRT services in Boca Raton and beyond, undergo testing, and often be told their results were normal, leaving them feeling confused, frustrated, and unheard.

What troubled me most was how often their concerns had been dismissed.

“My last doctor told me it was all in my head.”

“They said it’s just part of getting older.”

“I was told other women deal with this, so why can’t I?”

Hearing these experiences made me increasingly determined to advocate for my female patients who were seeking HRT services in Boca Raton and beyond, and find a better approach to their care. I began asking myself: What if we gave women the time to tell their whole story?

What if we explored how hormones, metabolism, sleep, stress, nutrition, and lifestyle all work together? What if we helped women understand their bodies rather than leaving them with unanswered questions? I realized that normal bloodwork didn’t always tell the whole story. Sometimes, we needed to look deeper and consider the bigger picture. This led me to Functional Medicine, an approach that examines the connections between the body’s systems to better understand the factors influencing overall health. When I had the opportunity to practice this way, I saw women gain a deeper understanding of their bodies, make more confident decisions, and begin rebuilding trust in themselves. I knew I wanted this experience to be the standard of care in my own practice, not the exception. Creating ARÉVIDA meant leaving the security of an established medical career, moving across the country, and building a practice from the ground up. It has been exciting, challenging, and incredibly meaningful.

In many ways, I’m living the same philosophy I share with my patients: Our health should support the lives we’re brave enough to build.

Today, ARÉVIDA allows me to provide the kind of personalized healthcare I’ve always envisioned. Through virtual functional medicine and HRT services in Boca Raton, as well as for women throughout Florida and California, I can take the time to listen, explore the bigger picture, and create individualized care plans. I believe every woman deserves to feel heard, understood, and empowered in her health journey. That’s why I founded ARÉVIDA: to practice medicine with curiosity, compassion, and the time to truly understand the woman sitting across from me.

What is unique about ARÉVIDA?

I don’t look at a woman’s symptoms in isolation. A woman might come to me because she’s exhausted, waking up multiple times during the night, struggling to concentrate during the day, and noticing that her patience isn’t what it used to be. She’s been told she’s stressed or that it’s just part of being a busy mom. I strongly disagree. When we look more closely, we may uncover changes in her hormones, blood sugar regulation, thyroid function, nutrient status, or sleep that are contributing to how she feels.

AREVIDA

These aren’t separate problems requiring separate solutions. At ARÉVIDA, I use a framework I call the 4Bs: Biology, Beliefs, Behaviors, and Becoming.

Biology is where we examine what’s happening in the body: hormones, metabolic health, thyroid function, inflammation, nutrient status, and more. I also want to understand her beliefs about health and aging, the behaviors shaping her everyday life, and the woman she wants to become.

Every patient begins with a 90 minute comprehensive Foundational Assessment, where we review her health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and relevant laboratory findings (customized to her concerns and health history) to develop an individualized plan. Depending on her needs, that might involve hormone therapy, metabolic health interventions, nutrition, lifestyle changes, stress management strategies or a combination of approaches.

I draw from a conventional, integrative, lifestyle, and functional medicine lens. ARÉVIDA is intentionally virtual so women can receive individualized care without having to rearrange their entire day for another appointment.

Why should Modern Boca Mom readers become your clients?

You’ve got everyone else. I’ve got you. Women, especially mothers, are often the ones keeping everything and everyone moving. You remember the appointments, anticipate everyone’s needs, manage the schedules, make the decisions, and somehow keep showing up even when you’re running on empty. But who’s looking after you?

Who’s asking why you’re exhausted even after a full night’s sleep? Why your patience is thinner than it used to be? Why your mind feels foggy, your sleep is unpredictable, or things you used to handle with ease suddenly feel overwhelming? Too often, women are told that this is just what motherhood looks like. That they’re stressed, getting older, or need to find more time for themselves. I don’t think that’s a good enough answer.

At ARÉVIDA, I want to understand what’s happening in your body and how it’s affecting your ability to show up for the life you’ve worked so hard to build. I want you to have the energy to get through your day without crashing, the patience to be present with your children, the mental clarity to make decisions without feeling overwhelmed, and enough left in the tank to enjoy your own life after everyone else’s needs have been met. I want you to feel like yourself, not just someone who’s gotten good at pushing through.

Here’s something else I believe: when we invest in a mother’s health, we’re investing in the health of her entire family. Our children are watching how we eat, move, rest, respond to stress, and think about our bodies. The habits we create and the example we set can influence how our families approach their health for years to come.

Taking care of yourself isn’t taking something away from your family. It’s an investment in yourself that can benefit everyone around you. You spend so much of your life making sure the people you love are well. I’d love to be the physician who makes sure someone is looking after you, too.

If this resonates, I invite you to schedule a complimentary discovery call. We’ll talk about what you’ve been experiencing, what you’d like to change, and whether ARÉVIDA is the right fit for you.

What exciting things are coming up with ARÉVIDA?

I’m most excited about bringing conversations about women’s health outside of the doctor’s office. Since launching ARÉVIDA, I’ve connected with women’s organizations, wellness communities, and other healthcare professionals to create opportunities for women to ask questions and learn about their bodies.

I’m particularly passionate about helping women understand the hormonal and metabolic changes that can begin years before menopause, and why this is such an important window to start paying attention to long-term health.

Over the coming months, I’ll be expanding my educational workshops and speaking engagements throughout South Florida, covering everything from perimenopause and hormone therapy to metabolism, muscle health, stress, and healthy aging. I’m especially excited to connect with more women in Boca Raton and Palm Beach County. I want women to leave these conversations thinking, Why has nobody explained this to me before? More importantly, I want them to feel ignited and empowered to do something with that information.

What do you love about living and working in South Florida?

I moved to Miami earlier this year, and one of the things I’ve loved most is the opportunity to build community. It’s so refreshing! I’ve met so many women who are creating businesses, raising families, reinventing themselves, and genuinely looking for ways to support one another. There’s an energy of vitality and FUN here that I absolutely love. I also love that wellness is such a visible part of the lifestyle. People are outside, moving their bodies, connecting with others, and investing in experiences that make them feel good.

As a physician, I love adding another layer to that conversation: what’s happening inside our bodies that determines how well we can actually enjoy the lives we’re creating? South Florida has been a place of both personal and professional new beginnings, and I’m excited to continue building ARÉVIDA within this community.
