When my family and I escape for a weekend, there’s one thing I don’t want to do: spend the entire trip driving. Between shuttling my kid from one activity to the next and navigating traffic back home in Boca Raton, the last thing I want on vacation is to load everyone back into the car every time we’re ready for dinner, the beach, or an afternoon adventure. That’s exactly why Costa d’Este Beach Resort & Spa in Vero Beach completely won me over.
Just under two hours from Boca Raton, this oceanfront boutique resort offers something that’s surprisingly hard to find in Florida: the ability to park your car, put away the keys and truly unwind.
Check In… Then Forget About Your Car
Vacation starts the moment you arrive. After checking in (and being welcomed with a complimentary glass of champagne), we parked the car and barely touched it again for the rest of our stay. Everything we wanted was either right at the resort or just a short walk or bike ride away.
A Walkable Florida Beach Town
One of my favorite things about Costa d’Este is its location. The resort sits in the heart of Vero Beach, making it easy to explore local restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops, and a charming oceanfront park without worrying about parking or traffic.
The complimentary beach cruiser bikes were one of our favorite amenities. We spent an afternoon riding through town, taking in the laid-back beach vibe that’s becoming harder and harder to find in Florida.
Beach, Pool… or Balcony?
Each morning started with coffee on our private balcony before debating the day’s biggest decision: infinity pool or beach? Spoiler alert: there’s no wrong answer.
Our connecting rooms were perfect for our family and the friends we invited to join us, giving us plenty of space to spread out while still feeling connected. Cozy robes, thoughtful amenities, and an incredibly friendly staff made the entire stay feel effortless.
When we headed to the beach, we reserved a cabana and settled in for the day. The resort fee includes complimentary stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and boogie boards, so there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained if lounging isn’t your style.
The Little Details That Make Costa d’Este Special
Throughout the property you’ll spot the resort’s signature monkey statues, inspired by Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s family. Guests toss seashells into the monkeys’ bellies for a little extra good luck, and naturally, we had to join in on the tradition.
Later that evening, we enjoyed dinner at The Wave Kitchen & Bar, where Cuban-inspired flavors pay tribute to the Estefans’ heritage. Before calling it a night, we couldn’t resist hopping onto the resort’s vintage Fun Cycle parked out front.
Coordinating the pedals while laughing uncontrollably may have been one of the highlights of our trip.
Sometimes the Best Vacation Is the Simplest One
Costa d’Este reminded me that vacations don’t have to be packed with nonstop activities to be memorable. And that truly, is really hard for me. I am a planner at heart!
Sometimes all you need is a beautiful beach, a great meal, a bike ride through town, and the freedom to spend an entire weekend without worrying about where you’re driving next.
