Tell us a little about your background…
Hi, I’m Kristy Squire, a proud wife, mom of three, and “bonus mom” to two wonderful stepchildren in our blended family. We also share our home with two fluffy four-legged family members, Penny the Goldendoodle and Maple the Bernedoodle who keep things playful and lively.
I’ve been an Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Master Instructor offering ISR swim lessons in Boca Raton for nearly two decades. But my journey with ISR began not as an instructor, but as a concerned new mom. When we installed a pool in our backyard, I had the sudden realization that while we had a safety net, there were still real risks, especially since our nanny couldn’t swim. I started searching for a way to give my daughter real-life, lifesaving skills. That’s when I discovered ISR.
From the very first lesson, I was hooked. The confidence and security it gave me as a mom was life-changing. I knew I had to help other families experience that same peace of mind. Nearly 19 years later, I’ve had the honor of teaching close to 2,000 children and training over 40 ISR instructors in the Boca Raton area. What started as a protective step for my own child turned into my passion and life’s work offering ISR swim lessons in Boca Raton.
How did your business get started?
My business started humbly, more than 18 years ago. As a mom, I was part of a local parenting group and began offering ISR swim lessons in Boca Raton through word of mouth. To “date” myself, I also sent out a 500-piece direct mail campaign to homes with pools and young children. That little leap of faith laid the foundation for what would become a growing community of families dedicated to water safety.
The support and referrals from those early families helped my business thrive. Things moved steadily, until COVID hit. Like so many others, I was forced to stop working temporarily. It was heartbreaking to watch drowning rates spike in Florida while I wasn’t able to help. The moment I was cleared to get back in the water, I did while teaching masked for months and doing everything possible to ensure my students were safe and progressing.
Teaching babies to trust while wearing a mask wasn’t easy, but we made it work. That time tested everything, but it also showed me the strength and resilience of my mission. If my business could survive that, I truly believe I can face any challenge ahead.
What is unique about your business, offering ISR swim lessons in Boca Raton?
One of the things I believe sets my program apart is that I’ve walked in your shoes and I’m not just an instructor; I’m a mom who’s been through the ISR experience. I know the anxiety that comes with handing your baby over to someone in the water. I understand how emotional these first lessons can be, for both little ones and their parents.
That’s why I go above and beyond to build strong relationships with the families I serve. Whether it’s a quick check-in, answering a middle-of-the-night question, or just sharing a proud moment from the pool—I strive to stay connected long after the lessons are done. Many of my ISR families have become dear friends over the years.
My time on the pool deck isn’t just about teaching technique, it’s about trust, communication, and heart.

What exciting things are coming up for your business?
One of the most exciting things happening right now is my continued partnership with the Peter Blum Family YMCA here in Boca Raton. Together, we’re working toward a shared goal: to eliminate childhood drowning in our community.
Every day in the pool is an exciting one because every day brings another child closer to mastering skills that could one day save their life. Whether it’s teaching a new baby how to roll to float, or celebrating a child’s final lesson, there’s always something meaningful happening in the water.
What do you love about living and working in South Florida?
As a Boca native, this community holds a special place in my heart. I’ve lived here since elementary school and completed both my undergraduate and MBA degrees locally. To now be in a position where I can serve the families in my hometown and making the water safer and more enjoyable for everyone is incredibly fulfilling.
With water all around us, living in South Florida means we don’t just enjoy the water and we live in it. And helping local families feel more confident and secure around the water is a responsibility I hold with pride.
