Tell us a little about your background and how you started your Boca Raton workspace for moms…

Hi! I’m Adrienne Paolini and I’ve been a Boca Raton resident since 2014. After growing up in Alabama and spending time in Massachusetts, I moved to the area to work for a top healthcare technology company. There, I was inspired to disrupt the status quo in traditional industries. Breaking the norm in childcare and in the workplace is something I feel very passionate about.

“Since having my son in 2018, I have gone from stay-at-home mom, to remote employee with part-time care, to hybrid entrepreneur/sales professional with limited daycare options. I started Child & Co. so that working parents don’t have to choose between returning to work or staying at home with their children. Child & Co. creates an environment where family and work exist in harmony.”

It’s definitely a problem!

As companies become more progressive, they’re often still missing the mark on supporting young families. Offices offer perks like ping pong tables and happy hours, but don’t provide adequate leave or childcare subsidies. During the COVID era, most employees have been forced to work from home. Employers have realized remote work is a successful and sustainable option. However, families have also realized the hardship of balancing work and home life.

Only 45% of employees say their companies have been successful extending childcare benefits to support remote work according to a survey.

COVID has shifted perceptions about what’s possible and re-prioritized how we spend our time. Either way, workers won’t be returning to their traditional 9-5’s and they need a space between.

Child & Co. offers a space that allows parents to smoothly transition to full-time care/work, become completely independent, or just take a break from their normal routine. We allow parents to spend time with their children while getting to work on their own schedules. This space is needed more than ever due to child care scarcity. Traditional daycares lack openings and have waiting lists. There’s also no real solution for unexpected emergencies or temporary, short-term care.

What’s unique about your Boca Raton workspace for moms?

Flexibility, quality and community. We offer convenient services to match our families’ lifestyles. Our child care + co-working services are offered for 2-4 hours in the morning or afternoon. Our members can book a time based on their needs, whether they have an important meeting, special project due, or their primary caregiver is unavailable. This provides some work-life balance to help families while their parents’ careers thrive.

Our part-time child care services still provide the same quality as a full-time day care. We lean into empathy, exploration and creativity. Our teachers have previous educational experience, background screenings and CPR/First Aid certifications. The children’s activities are carefully curated to blend different philosophies and provide enrichment based on age.

And lastly the community aspect: our members understand and support each other through the challenges of raising children and growing their careers or businesses.

Parents can also be aware of their children’s activities and feel a sense of accomplishment without the guilt. Often, we send our children to preschools during the most critical years of their lives without knowing how they spend their time and interact with others. Child & Co. bridges the gap by allowing them to be more involved.

What exciting things are coming up with your business?

We’re really excited about the professional experts that will be speakers at our events. From nurses to therapists and executives, there will be insightful topics and development tools to help our members as parents and professionals. We have a big focus on supporting working moms, small businesses and wellness.

What do you love about working and living in South Florida?

The incredible, hard-working people! I love the diversity and melting pot of cultures. Through different perspectives, we fuel innovation which benefits our communities. And lastly, all of the amenities like the beach, shopping, restaurants – add Child & Co. to the list!
