Tell us about your background and why you decided to start your business…

Hi! I’m Carolyn Schwartz, owner of YogaSix West Boca. Health and wellness have always been a priority in my life as well as a lifelong interest. I started my career in marketing, living and working in New York City. This was a great situation for us prior to having children! However, children and a move to the NYC suburbs had me deciding that I needed to make a life/career change. The commuting was preventing me from spending quality time with my family.

My passion for health and fitness led me to opening my first franchise in Summit and Plainfield, NJ: Curves for Women. I loved educating women about how creating a regular fitness routine, along with healthy eating, contributes to overall wellness. After 3 years, I sold both locations and created my own business, Kidnetic.

My kids were truly the inspiration for this concept. I was searching for a safe place for them to play and have fun, especially in the winter, but the options were limited. I partnered with my daughter’s day care center director and we created this concept that merged play, enrichment classes and parties.

Businesses don’t always last forever though…

Exactly! After 3 years of owning Kidnetic, we made the decision to move to North Carolina and were forced to sell the business. Living in Charlotte, I was able to focus solely on my kids and left my working life behind for several years. But due to personal changes, I needed to go back into the workforce. Given health and wellness was a driving force in my life, I purchased LaVida Massage, a franchise focused on holistic health and wellness services. In the meantime, I received my health coaching certification and learned the benefits of yoga and breathwork and began my own daily yoga practice. My kids were getting older and my eldest started college. Time flies!

“I decided at that point that I wanted to fulfill my lifelong dream of living in South Florida. I made the decision to move as soon as my second child left for college.”

After selling LaVida Massage, I followed my passion yet again! When I learned about the YogaSix concept, I was excited to be involved with this new franchise. I couldn’t wait to introduce yoga to everyone. It’s as if my life and passion came full circle.

In our stressful world, there is an absolute need for more yoga. More often than not, a yoga studio can be an intimidating place to enter if you are new to the practice.

The YogaSix brand was founded to take away the intimidation factor that many people feel when trying yoga for the first time. Our classes are both warm and hot and are accessible and fun for everyone. We believe that everyone, from the seasoned practitioner to the total newbie can practice and see results in our studio.

What’s truly unique about YogaSix West Boca?

At YogaSix, we are changing the way people think and experience yoga. In yoga, every day is different. But, there is always room to learn, grow and keep seeing results. Our yoga and fitness classes allow our members to define their own success, from one day to the next, to customize their practice. We help members connect to themselves in a way that is energizing, empowering and fun.

YogaSix is a modern, boutique yoga studio. We use modern language instead of Sanskrit to describe our practice, as the traditional language can be intimidating to newcomers. Our location also provides class options for everybody, from beginners seeking a recovery to more advanced students. We want to introduce yoga in a modern practice that allows all levels to feel welcome!

Why should Modern Boca Mom readers become your clients?

What exciting things are coming up for YogaSix West Boca?

Besides our everyday fun activities in the studio, we are partnering with Kindness Matters, and providing a free yoga class to middle and high school students involved with their organization. We are also offering free outdoor classes at the Greenwise Market at Lakeside Center, Saturday October 16 & 23rd (2021) at 10:00 a.m. and Bolay in Uptown on Friday, October 29th (2021) at 5:00 p.m.

What do you love most about living and working in South Florida?

The weather! I’ve slowly made my way down south from the tri-state area, with a 12 year stopover in Charlotte. I’ve been visiting South Florida my entire life and for as long as I remember, wanted to live here, so I feel like I’m fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine.

And I love the people. I feel like I’m home again.
