MOMpreneur: n. defined as a female business owner who is actively balancing the role of mom and the role of entrepreneur.
Welcome to our latest installment of MOMpreneur Monday, highlighting businesses and brands that were founded by female entrepreneurs and fellow Mommas!
Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is the one and only Cynthia Rowley, Founder of Cynthia Rowley Fashion!
Tell us a little about your background and what inspired you to start Cynthia Rowley Fashion…
I moved to New York the second I got out of school at the Art Institute of Chicago to start my fashion empire in a sort of “fake it till you make it” way. I came to NYC without any investors and started my company from the ground up. The fashion industry has changed tremendously since those days and I take a lot of pride in evolving and staying relevant by always being excited about new things.
My daughters inspire me every day and the adventures we share together are always a core inspiration throughout my business.
What is truly unique about your business?
Cynthia Rowley Fashion has grown into a lifestyle brand with distinct personality and purpose. I can dress you for date night, the gym, or a surf session! The ready-to-wear collections are anchored in the brand’s signature style of sporty essentials and delicate details for effortless pieces that fit every occasion. We also have accessories and home decor.
Why should Modern Boca Mom readers shop your brand?
I am constantly pushing boundaries and experimenting with new concepts to create the most memorable experiences for my clients. Whether it be conceptualizing a new collection or curating a pop-up, I absolutely must cater to the lifestyle of my customers.
What exciting things are coming up for your business?
We just launched our “Endless Summer” nomadic retail venture through new pop-up locations across the U.S. We are super excited about our new locations in Palm Beach and Miami. The lifestyle in South Florida is so much the spirit of our brand!
Comprised of the signature fashions along with merchandise from likeminded brands, the Palm Beach location provides a well-rounded retail experience for customers. It includes specialty works of art from Exhibition A, an institutionally recognized source for contemporary art editions co-owned by the designer and my husband Bill Powers.
“I knew we had to turn our dreams of endless summer into reality and Palm Beach is where people escape for just that. Our space at The Royal Poinciana Plaza with open-air shopping allows for guests to experience our brand and feel the inspiration behind it.”
The space features a mix of the brand’s seasonal ready-to-wear and surf/swim collections. It also includes fitness, accessories, and CALI | YORK favorites. The shop will also include an assortment of Martone Bikes, Lingua Franca knits, Gatti jewelry, and EIR NYC products. The Royal Poinciana location will be open for the holiday season through May. We have plans to have charitable fundraisers for local non-profit, hosted cocktail events, and regional collaborations are on the horizon.
What do you love about living and working in South Florida?
I wish I lived in South Florida (lol!). But, in the meantime it’s a perfect getaway. We truly enjoy working in such an amazing place.
