Today’s featured Modern Boca MOMpreneur is Cristina Fundora, local mom and founder of the Lilliput Design Studio.
Tell us a little about your background…
I’m the designer, stationer, and brand stylist behind Lilliput Design Studio. I’m a South Florida native, wife and mama to Ben, a rambunctious (to say the least) 16-month-old. I’ve worked professionally as a print and web designer for almost 10 years and started Lilliput Design Studio in 2012. We create bespoke wedding and event stationery, and work with small businesses to design their branding and visual identities.
What inspired you to create your design studio?
I worked as a graphic designer in-house and with branding agencies my whole career. My first foray into the world of wedding stationery was when my sister-in-law asked me to help her design her wedding invitations and day-of items. I learned so much about the ins and outs of stationery and was hooked. I worked full time and kept Lilliput Design Studio as my “side-hustle,” working with brides every chance I got.
Soon after, I began working with local businesses designing their branding, marketing collateral, and websites. Fast-forward to 2016: I had Ben, went on maternity leave, and never went back! I’ve been working full-time creating beautiful designs for my clients through Lilliput Design Studio, while being lucky enough to watch our little guy grow.
What is truly unique about your design services?
When I create a design, whether it’s for a wedding or a brand, I like to take the time to get to know the person behind it. Because what makes your company or event special is YOU! We’ll work together to hone in on your vision and incorporate your personality into something beautiful and timeless that will bring a smile to your face every time you see it.
Why should Modern Boca Moms become your customers?
A great graphic designer once said that “design is the silent ambassador of your brand”. I can’t tell you how true this is.
When you receive an invitation in the mail, it sets the tone for the event. Whenever you see a company’s branding, you already start to formulate ideas about what kind of business it is. It’s so important to work with someone who will make sure that your first design impression is a great one!
What exciting things are coming up for your business?
I’m excited to say that I’ll be expanding this little design studio up to Boston! We’ll be moving this summer for my husband’s second fellowship with Harvard and Boston Children’s Hospital. (We’re so proud of him!) Thankfully, we’re keeping some strong roots here in South Florida, so we can escape those Northeastern winters if they get to be too brutal!
What do you love about living and working in South Florida?
Although we are excited about our Boston adventure, living in South Florida has been a dream. What’s not to love about sunny skies, beautiful beaches and the best Cuban food in the country?!
