A gem in the heart of downtown, the Delray Beach Children’s Garden is an oasis of tropical splendor. It was built not only with the help of civic leaders, landscape designers and horticulturalists, but with the aid of children and the community neighbors that will frequent it.
The Children’s Garden in Delray Beach’s mission is to nurture eco-consciousness through education, exploration and play in nature.
Children’s Garden in Delray Beach
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church has generously leased the half-acre property to the nonprofit for $10 a year.
The Delray Beach Children’s Garden aspires to provide hands-on experiences, creating a sense of community and a future generation of earth stewards. Children of all economic and cultural backgrounds and ability groups are welcome.
A Banana Forest, an Aquaponics Learning Center, Seminole Indian Chickee Hut Educational Pavilion, a Storytelling Corner, a Veggie-box Labyrinth, Pollinator Beds, a Reading Tree Fountain, a Medicine Room, Compost Center, a Sunflower House and a Bean Pole Tee Pee are just some of the features that will help children embrace the natural world around them and motivate them to take care of it as they grow.
Year-round educational programming is offered. Storytelling, nature crafts, cooking classes, garden workshops, and music will take place in the Simon-Grass River Pavilion, named for Mr. Sandy Simon and the Grass River Garden Club that generously co-funded this outdoor classroom.
