When I was pregnant with #dailybabyavery in NYC, I was thrilled to discover (what I nicknamed) the “Disney World of Maternity,” located conveniently on 57th Street and Madison Avenue (4/19/16 UPDATE: It is now closed, I just found out. Completely devastated for my pregnant NYC friends). I knew now I had to find a South Florida Pregnancy spa.
It was a Destination Maternity complex that included two stores, a fitness studio and a spa. A one-stop shop if you will for anything pregnancy-related. I could buy a formal maternity dress, get fitted for a nursing bra, take a Pilates class and get a facial all in one building. Genius! Continue reading Belly Love Has a Whole New Meaning…
Until I took Pure Barre classes Boca Raton, I thought that the only “tuck” that this Modern Boca Mom would ever get would be surgical. Eventually (wink, wink).
Little did I know that the word would enter my regular vocabulary under a completely different meaning. Ballet fitness!
Pure Barre classes Boca Raton
And now, there are two Pure Barre fitness locations easily accessible to both East Boca (in Royal Palm Place) and West Boca residents alike. Pure Barre West Boca, is located at 9834 Glades Road (at 441 in the Home Depot plaza) and is one of 200 studios nationwide. Yes, it’s also a fitness staple in New York City.

According to the PB website, in just 55 minutes you will achieve a full-body workout concentrating on the areas women struggle with the most: hips, thighs, seat, abdominals and arms. All the Pure Barre technique classes involve low-impact, protecting your joints by avoiding any bouncing or jumping and each strength section of the workout is followed by a stretching section in order to create long, lean muscles without bulk. The technique works to defy gravity by tapering everything in and lifting it up!
Classes should be taken wearing comfortable clothes and I highly recommend purchasing “sticky socks,” so you can easily grip the floor during class. I LOVE mine!
Because movements in all Pure Barre classes in Boca Raton are controlled and deliberate, they don’t involve dancing. I had no idea that such tiny exercises (standing on my tip toes no less) would cause so much blissful muscle soreness the next day.
Single Pure Barre classes in Boca Raton cost $23 each and package pricing is available. PB West Boca is offering a new client special: 1 month of unlimited classes for $99. To register, click HERE.
Disclosure: MBMom was given an assortment of Pure Barre branded merchandise from the West Boca location. As always, opinions and reviews are my own.
Full disclosure: I have a love/hate relationship with exercise. My “must haves” if I’m going to get sweaty on purpose are air conditioning, a workout buddy, a cute outfit and variety. Especially variety (like a Boca Raton Flywheel Sports Workout Class).
But, since I had #dailybabyavery, I’ve made it a point to TRY to fit 2-3 sweat sessions in per week– if anything, to keep my energy up and stress down. I typically alternate between a Pure Barre class, Pound, Stroller Strides and NYC fitness craze: Flywheel.
This 45-55 minute spinning class slash ‘workout way of life’ has a HUGE following of devotees, not only in NYC, but in South Florida as well. ALSO SEE: SoulCycle (which has yet to reach South Florida).
They also have a barre version of their class, appropriately branded Flybarre, which I have yet to try personally.
The Boca Raton Flywheel Sports Workout Class also has an outpost in Miami Beach and if you like loud music, hi-tech workout tracking (I’m obsessed with my “power”) and cycling your little heart out (mind you, at your own pace despite the instructor pushing you), this fitness option is for you! Plus, you get really cute spinning shoes.
Flywheel workout classes have definitely capitalized on tech use…and gear. They sell brightly colored workout clothing right in their studio and let me tell you, it’s tempting to give in…and this is why. Look what they recently posted on their Instagram?!
How can you be a part of a Boca Raton Flywheel Sports Workout Class?
A single class goes for $25 (first class FREE) and unlimited spinning at Flywheel Boca runs $180 per month. You can sign up for everything including payments and your bike placement right online and they also recently released an app, so you can book classes on the go.
