Tis the END of ‘Season’: MBMom Reviews Boca Bacchanal & SHUZZ Art Fashion Show 2015

Shuzz Bacchanal 2015 Featured WM

Twas the beginning of spring and all through the town, Boca’s fab social season was winding down;

The wine had been drunk, all the food tasted, the fashions shown off, and no one’s time wasted;

Raising money for charity was the name of the game, but this Boca Mom is exhausted all the same!

Editor’s Note: Tis best to be an exhausted mom on a private plane at the Boca Raton Airport in a dress courtesy of Lord & Taylor…just take my word for it.

Modern Boca Mom is thrilled to report that the Boca Raton social season ended with a bang this year with two amazing events less than a week apart: Boca Bacchanal & SHUZZ Art Fashion Show.

MBMom attended both events last year and has the inside scoop on how both went down in 2015.

First up…

Boca Bacchanal

Despite the pouring rain on Friday night, 1,500 guests joined the Boca Raton Historical Society and Museum for a Boca Bacchanal weekend unlike any before.

Bacchanalia, held March 27, for the first time at the Boca Raton Airport Hangar, wowed guests from the moment they arrived on the red carpet with views of private jets, gorgeous Ferraris, the signature Boca Bacchanal car and a spectacle of live entertainment.

Once inside (and dry), guests experienced tastings from 40 South Florida restaurants, over 140 varieties of wine from top vintners across the world, chef demonstrations from three of Bacchanal’s notable chefs, a luxurious pop-up shop from Saks Fifth Avenue (which #modernbocadad thoroughly enjoyed) and unique offerings from local businesses and sponsors for guests to enjoy.

History went high tech this year with a live social media stream (attendees who posted with the hashtag #BocaBacchanal could see their posts on the main event screen) and models in video vests streaming footage of the Boca Raton Historical Society programs and preservation projects who walked the event taking donations for the new Welcome Center at Town Hall.

Celebrity Kathie Lee Gifford, representing GIFFT Wines, was also a presenter at Bacchanalia and a Vintner Dinner in Boca Raton.

The GIFFT rosé was delish, but I also enjoyed the offerings from good ol’ Cupcake Wines, one of my NYC liquor store staples.

SHUZZ Art Fashion Show

I’ll let my good friend and fellow South Florida blogger April Golightly take you through all of the specific fashion details from the SHUZZ Art Fashion Show at Mizner Park Amphitheater featuring designs from Haute Hippie (click HERE), but needless to say it was a ton of fun and again, for a great cause!

SHUZZ (pronounced shoes) is a South Florida based non-profit organization that functions off of support from volunteers only, existing to provide new shoes to children in poverty-stricken areas around the world.

I especially liked this Haute Hippie design (photo by Brooke Strange):

I drink wine because I don’t like to keep things bottled up 😉

Cirque Dreams kept guests entertained pre and post-Fashion Show and NYY Steak provided food in the VIP lounge area. So yummy!

Both of these events are MUSTS during the Boca “Season.” If you missed out this year, make sure you put them on your calendar for 2016!

Modern Boca Mom 1st Blogger-versary Party Invite FINAL

Delray’s Fabulous Fashion Week: Our Favorite 2015 Looks

FASHION WEEK! I love it. I miss it.
And since it’s unlikely I’ll make it back for a show in NYC anytime soon, I am so happy that I was able to attend the finale at Delray’s Fabulous Fashion Week.
When I attended my first BIG show at the Bryant Park tents in the city, my friend Nic (@nixcruz), a fashion editor in Manhattan, gave me this LOL-worthy gem of advice:
Mkay so here is the deal: arrive 15 to 10 mins before the show but they NEVER start on time — usually 20 after the start time. Walk in the tents and act like you know where you are going. There will be signs either to the left or right that say “[designer]” the people waiting around will not have their seat assignment or are standing … You will have a seat so scoot to the front and flash them that shit. When I send you your seat asst, write it on the invite so they see it and wont annoy you at the entrance. Then sit in your seat and act like EVERYTHING. Wear your shades indoors, don’t smile, don’t be nice to the person next to you, look constipated & you’ll blend. Teehee.
I tried channeling it in Delray. Did we succeed? 😉

Modern Boca Mom Delray Fashion Week 1

#modernbocadad: “That’s a lot of powerful moms right there.”

To quote our fashion-forward friends in the front row, the LL-Scene Girls: Delray Beach is continuing to flourish right before our very eyes, and we’re loving every second of it. From their award winning restaurants to the adorable boutiques popping up on the Ave, we couldn’t be happier about the ongoing buzz being created around Delray Beach. It’s not just ‘up and coming’ anymore, it has come, conquered, and is here to stay. Delray’s Fabulous Fashion Week gave local and international designers and stores the opportunity to spotlight and create awareness down the middle of Atlantic Avenue in front of thousands of customers and fans.
How great is that? So without further ado, here were my favorite looks for the fashionable (and realistic) MBMom (and daughter!) from the “Gypsies to Jetsetters” finale show:

The Ribbon is CUT! What’s NEW at Boca VIPediatrics?

Sponsored Boca VIPediatrics Ribbon Cutting WM

Boca VIPediatrics is OFFICIALLY open for business…that is according to the Boca Chamber of Commerce and friends and family who helped Dr. Chad Rudnick and his Mompreneur wife Ashley Rudnick celebrate their grand opening and ribbon-cutting on October 30th!

Modern Boca Mom was invited to attend the party and it truly was a community affair.

Dr. Rudnick even took the time to take a selfie with moi!

IMG_8977

We tried!

And then the ribbon was cut, which meant it was time for MBMom to ask what was NEW at Boca VIPediatrics!

IMG_8991

IMG_8996

Luckily, Ashley their VIP Director, filled me in.

  1. There’s a new monthly payment plan! You don’t have to foot the entire annual membership fee at one time. “The new monthly payment plan is comparable to a cable bill or daily Starbucks (you’re busted Modern Boca Moms!), but you get your family’s own private pediatrician that is always on call to answer your questions, 24/7.”
  2. The membership is all-inclusive. “What a lot of people don’t know is that the membership fee is all-inclusive of all sick and well office visits, vaccines, house calls, and 24/7 access to reach Dr. Rudnick via his cell phone. There are no copays. So it works out to be a predictable cost for ALL your child’s healthcare, and your insurance is used for more serious or in-depth care or prescriptions (hospitalizations, labs, x-rays, etc.).”
  3. You only need your insurance for the big stuff… “Similar to car insurance, which you wouldn’t use for routine things like oil changes or flat tires, only the big things go through insurance. This way, we can provide the BEST possible care for our patients, and we’re never incentivized to do things TO our patients, rather FOR them, without an insurance company telling our patients what’s covered and what’s not. It’s nice for our VIP families to know that they have unlimited sick or well visits, and they’ll never get a bill from us or their insurance company for our care.”

Since their grand opening in July, Boca VIPediatrics has had an overwhelming response from the community for accessible, convenient, and affordable pediatric care. Concierge pediatric care. In fact, they are drawing near to reaching their patient cap!

IMG_9007

Ashley told MBMom, “Our VIPs tell us that their favorite feature is being able to use a “virtual visit” or send a text and save an office visit by having their child’s issue evaluated on the spot. Whether it’s FaceTime to listen to a cough or take a look at a rash, a text message that asks about medication dosage, an email that asks, ‘Hey, is this a good baby product?’, or a phone call any day of the week that allows moms to speak directly to Dr. Rudnick about any concerns they may have about their child from eating, to sleeping, to behavior, and most importantly, staying healthy.”

IMG_8983

She went on to say, “The national average of time spent with a doctor is 8 minutes. In our practice, we block out an entire hour so you never have to feel rushed to ask questions. Of course, if you want to be in and out, we can do that too! With our very cozy staff of just 3, we want to take the time to get to know all of our families so that you get the “small town” doctor’s office feel.”

“The house calls have also been a big hit with our VIP families. The house calls are done for urgent after-hours care and also for the first newborn exam, and we have saved many an ER trip by offering this service to our VIPs. The statistic is 1 in 5 kids end up in the ER every year – which is pretty staggering. If we can save a family from having to go to the ER by being available after-hours for a house call or office visit, the family has saved not only the traumatic experience of being in an ER, but hours of waiting and potentially thousands of dollars,” said Ashley.

That is unbelievable to me (but verified by Dr. Rudnick and Google!).

After speaking with Ashley, Dr. Rudnick and several attendees at the ribbon-cutting celebration, this Modern Boca Mom now believes that Boca VIPediatrics is bringing a much needed change to the pediatric health care industry, right here in Boca!

Hey, you have to start somewhere…
