With all of the Boca back-to-school craziness this week/month, I feel like I haven’t written a proper blog post in AGES! I’m excited to ease back into things after a little (and much needed) summer slowdown. I think every small business owner needs a break to re-charge every now and then. And I actually have a big announcement! Over the next few months I’ll be working with Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County! They are doing BIG things in our community, especially when it comes to expecting mamas and families of young children. Also, I can’t wait to tell you a little bit about their Palm Beach County parenting app and website! Big scoop coming your way, mamas…
It’s true. The other night, my husband caught up with one of his guy friends who’s lived with his girlfriend in New York City for more than a few years now. He told him that they aren’t getting married or starting a family because of her massive student loan debt. Maybe using a debt consolidation loan calculator would be an option to better understand how to tackle their big student loans in a more manageable way that might allow for them to save up to get married and have kids. Using a service like Sofi to refinance student loans is also a viable option which makes repayment of debt easier under a new loan with lower interest.
There’s something seriously wrong with that. They both have great jobs (thanks to a good, yet clearly expensive) education. But, they work in an industry that requires them to live in or near big city. They are able to pay their (I’m sure somewhat higher than average) rent and bills each month, no problem. But due to massive student loan debt, there’s not enough money left over to save up to buy a house or pay for an engagement ring. That’s maddening to me!
#modernbocadadand I are some of the lucky ones. We both graduated from college debt-free. I know this isn’t the norm. Student loan debt has reached $1 trillion of debt among Americans and I refuse to let our daughter join that statistic.
How Florida Prepaid Helps You Avoid Massive Student Loan Debt
A Florida Prepaid College Plan allows families to prepay, on a monthly or lump-sum basis, the future cost of 1) college tuition, 2) specified fees and 3) dormitory housing. It’s a simple 1-2-3! When your child is ready for college, the plan pays the tuition and fees at any Florida College or State University. However, if your child attends an out-of-state college or private college, the plan will pay the same amount as it would pay at a public college or university in Florida. This is a win-win for parents!
Head to www.myfloridaprepaid.com and use my promo code: ‘Boca1718′ to get $25 off your application fee! It is quick and easy to enroll mamas and the younger your child is, the smaller the monthly payment will be.
Enrollment is open through the end of February 2018! Don’t delay!

During times of crisis is when people’s true colors really show. Although Boca Raton families dodged a bullet with Hurricane Irma, many are still dealing with major issues. The aftermath of damage to property, zero power, limited access to businesses and of course, the thousands upon thousands of evacuees who are trying to make their way back home.
Top pediatricians in Boca Raton, Doctors Chad Rudnick and Paul Gilbert, are no strangers to answering the most commonly Googled questions for parenting healthy kids. Every day at their local office, they block out an entire hour for their patients to conduct wellness check-ups and answer parents’ questions the way docs did in the good ‘ole days. They carry black “house call bags” for actual house visits, keep their cell phones on them 24/7 in case parents have questions via text or email, and spend a TON of time focusing on wellness.
