There may be only a few days left of Boca Raton Winter Break (is time moving faster these days??), but my family and I have been making the most of the “together time” we have left before the second semester school crush begins. Break has been really nice this year! (Even with Omicron lurking in the background like an unwanted holiday visitor…) Though we’ve been relatively busy, I’ve had fun and felt really present as a mom for the first time in a long time.
Luckily, Boca is the place to be during the winter season and there’s no shortage of entertaining (and even educational) activities available that appeal to all ages. Here are a few of my favorites that will be going on through the New Year!
Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru at Boca Museum of Art
A limited run exhibit not to miss during Boca Raton Winter Break, I took my husband, mom and daughter to experience Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru at the Boca Raton Museum of Art over Winter Break. The immersive exhibit takes you on a journey through time where you’ll discover a culture that thrived in a mythic world. I found the experience ideal for children who are reading (or older) as it is guided by interactive storytelling from mythical Andean hero, Ai Apaec.
You can also enhance your visit with a Virtual Reality upgrade—my 8 year-old really loved this part. “Machu Picchu and the Spirit of the Condor” invites visitors to explore the wonders of the stunning citadel with VR goggles and a moving pod for extra cinematic motion (and scents!). It is similar to the Soarin’ ride at Walt Disney World’s Epcot if you’ve ever been. You can experience the Virtual Reality Experience along with or separate from the main exhibit for an additional fee. Learning about the life and times of the lost city of Inca has never been so fun here in Boca Raton!

Getting the family together during Boca Raton Winter Break is what the holidays are all about, but what do you do when your Boca kids are already fighting after being cooped up in the house? Boomers at Boca Raton offers a variety of festive and interactive activities to keep kids and parents entertained this holiday season. The park is open on New Year’s Eve too, so this is a great option for a day trip full of family fun!
Boomers Winterfest features their Naughty Krampus Nightmare golf, where guests can experience holiday scares, screams, twists and terrors. Guests can also choose the Nice course, which features twinkling lights, Santa’s elves, a sugar plum fairy, and toy soldiers. They can even feel the season come to life with a winter “snow fall”!
The new and renovated Boomers Backyard (with VIP cabanas) is also complete with fire pits and heat lamps, creating a cozy spot to enjoy their holiday menu and “Naughty or Nice” festive cocktails for the adults. This Boca mom is a big fan!
