If you happen to be living with a budding “fashion designer” like me, then finding sewing classes in Boca for your child is a top priority this fall! Enter: Petite Designers! They have an amazing after school program starting up this fall which would be a great fit for your creative kiddos.
Sewing Classes in Boca for Kids at Petite Designers
Located in Royal Palm Place in East Boca, Petite Designers is a sewing and fashion design school for kids! They offer an enriching after-school program where children learn how to sew clothes, work with patterns, and create unique designs. The program is actually great for beginners (like my daughter) as well as more experienced sewers.
Students move from lower, beginner levels to more advanced ones as they master their sewing skills and gain practice in sketching and fashion design. However, even if they are starting at Level 1, the students are able to create beautiful clothes. Projects become more and more complex as they move up.
How does it work?
During this after-school program, kids will work in small groups guided by an instructor who helps each student with their individual projects. Every student has a personal sewing station and works at his/her own pace while advancing in the curriculum.
Petite Designers has created a safe environment for kids to hone a new lifelong skill as well as to become more creative. Students are encouraged to follow safety rules to make each class enjoyable as well as safe for everyone. Since re-opening during Phase 1, the school has followed all local and state guidelines to ensure the safety of kids and staff.
Current safety measures include:
- Checking symptoms and temperature
- Maintaining social distancing
- Regularly sanitizing of hands, tools and equipment
- Wearing masks
In addition, Petite Designers’ warm and friendly environment allows children to make new friends while learning and having a good time! This is so important right now.
Kids can join this ongoing after-school program as early as age 6 upon successful completion of their introductory class. This is a free class that allows children to visit the studio, learn how to work with the sewing equipment, and find out more information about the school and its programs.
Each quarter, students also participate in the Sewing for Other program. Here, they have a chance to use their skills and help those is need. For example, during quarantine, Petite Designers sewed and donated over 100 face masks to Memorial Healthcare System to support their community!
