If you’re a fan of “Lip Sync Battle” on Paramount Network, then you have to come out to Boca’s very own rendition on Aug. 27 (2019). Hosted by Nat King Cole Generation Hope Inc., the Boca Lip Sync Battle and fundraiser brings together brave teams of singer-dancer wannabes in a friendly competition to both raise money for the music education charity and entertain.
One of the teams? Me and my colleagues at Boca magazine.
Nicknamed the Boca Dolls, our Boca Lip Sync Battle team consists of Olivia Hollaus (community outreach director), Christiana Lilly (web editor) and myself, Michelle Olson-Rogers (contributor and the founder of this website, Modern Boca Mom). We’re currently hitting the dance studio twice a week, practicing for our big stage debut as a trio.
Can we sing? Doesn’t matter. Can we dance? You’ll have to find out.
Founded in 2008, the Boca Raton nonprofit was founded by the twin daughters of legendary singer, Nat King Cole. Timolin and Casey Cole were both motivated to create the charity in their parents’ legacy to combat the budget cuts to music education in schools.
To support music education (and make this all worthwhile for us brave lip sync-ers), donate to one of the Boca Dolls—it doesn’t matter who you donate to, as it’ll be pooled together as a team:
Another way to contribute is to come out to the event itself! Tickets are $35 to $50, and part of the competition is bringing out supporters. Hope to see you there!!!
Lip Sync Battle Boca Raton is Aug. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crazy Uncle Mike’s, 6450 N. Federal Highway in Boca Raton. For more information, visit natkingcolegenhope.org/product/lip-sync-battle-boca-raton-2019.
