Summer may be just around the corner, but we’re already thinking ahead to Halloween and the 7th Annual Kids’ Spooky Film Festival! Sugar Sand Park Community Center is searching for the best and brightest amateur filmmakers to create family-friendly films for Boca’s Spooky Film Festival. It will coincide with the 14th year of Shriek Week, running October 19, 20, 25, 26, and 27, (2018).
My daughter already has her costume in mind. So, I honestly think this announcement for Boca’s Spooky Film Festival is right on time!
Calling All Amateur Filmmakers for Boca’s Spooky Film Festival 2018!
In case you don’t have editing experience or software on hand, the Boca Raton Public Library is offering participants the use of the Downtown Library Discovery Studio’s editing software on selected Saturdays in August and September. You do not need a library card and an experienced staff member will be on hand to help.
Prizes will be awarded for the best youth (ages 12-17), family, and adult-created film. Film formats may include:
- Live action
- Digital comic books.
The films will be judged by a panel of industry professionals (which are pretty impressive- see them here!).
All films are due in person to the Sugar Sand Park Community Center or postmarked by September 30, 2018. Prizes will be announced this summer.
Fans can watch and vote for their favorite films online October 1-31 for the People’s Choice Award. Selected films will be shown in the Willow Theatre during Shriek Week. They are so smart and screen them while patrons are waiting in the queue for the Haunted House. I love that they do this!
