Living in New York City, our apartments never had more than one bathroom. Then we moved to Boca Raton and poof! Our fixer-upper house comes with 3.5. You might see this as a blessing…I saw it as 3.5 expensive intimidating projects (and more to clean- yuck!). The two bathrooms upstairs are simply sitting there in their full 1980’s glory…seashell shaped sinks, a bidet, brown fixtures…we’re pretty much the only people who see them (luckily). However, the 1.5 downstairs needed to be renovated…like yesterday, especially when we have guests over. So over holiday break, we decided to start with our powder room and give it the chic Boca Raton bathroom makeover it deserved…on a budget.
#modernbocadad thought himself capable of tackling this project himself. (BTW, it’s appropriate his name is Andy…like “Handy Andy.” Get it??) And, I was game since all of the holiday shopping and hosting were rather rough on our budget this year. What could go wrong?
Boca Raton Bathroom Makeover
Well, quite a bit, but luckily my husband was able to handle it. You tend to find a lot of surprises when you re-do a house built in 1981! Loose electrical wires, poorly done drywall. It’s so much fun!
After a tiny bit of assistance from our plumber, Andy installed this Kohler toilet. I love that it has a low back and is all one piece which equals easy to clean. And at night it becomes a “disco potty” courtesy of this awesome seat that you can add to any elongated toilet in your home! 🙂 You’re welcome.
Next was the Kohler pedestal sink. Ours isn’t available online, but this one is pretty close. I’m also pretty proud of the mirror we chose to hang over the sink. It’s an antique frame that I simply had a local glass company replace the broken mirror inside it for $30 bucks. I love re-purposing household objects!
Here’s the side by side Boca bathroom makeover “Before & After” shot: Can’t wait to tackle the guest bathroom next!
