Applications are now open for the third annual Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank, one of Florida’s most innovative programs! Philanthropy Tank fosters and funds philanthropic, community betterment ideas presented by Palm Beach County students.
Since its inception, the program has funded 18 student-driven solutions to community issues and social problems in Palm Beach County, totaling an investment of $200k+ by the program’s ‘Philanthropist-Investors.’ Through November 12, 2017, Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank welcomes applications from changemakers considered to be “positively disruptive” by parents, teachers, friends and neighbors of all students in grades 7-12 in Palm Beach County. These include private, charter and home-schooled students.
Philanthropy Tank will fund winning programs that will be pitched live by the Student-Finalists to a panel of local philanthropists. Each philanthropist commits $25,000 to fund ideas that directly achieve unique and creative solutions to community issues. Student-Finalists will have the opportunity to receive up to $15,000 in funding to realize each idea, and will be mentored by the donating philanthropist for the year following the Philanthropy Tank Finals.
Projects are evaluated based on the strength of five areas including:
- Community impact
- Program feasibility
- Solution creativity
- Team strength
Finalists will be announced on January 19, 2018 and will have approximately seven weeks to prepare their pitch during a series of required workshops. The final event, which is open to the public, will take place on March 11, 2018 at A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach.
Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank was developed by Advisors for Philanthropic Impact (API), a group comprised of trust & estate attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, life insurance professionals, and nonprofit leaders. To apply to Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank, visit philanthropytank.org/apply.
